The CEO of whole foods mart recently came out against Obamacare... http://abcnews.go.com/Business/story?id=8322658&page=1 Interestingly enough, the biggest supporters are the pharma companies and wallmart: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB124640564559176649.html

Our government currently beleives that some companies are too big to allow to fail. That if they fail they will bring down the entire economy with them, or at the very least bring down their poll numbers due to unemployment temporarily going up by a point. But what does it mean for a mega company to fail? Take a look at the auto industry, we have a variety of newcommers, something unheard of in markets controlled by incumbants. Companies like tesla motors are coming and providing niche ...

Today in college (organic chemistry 2 lab) a girl asked me about my country of origin. We got talking and i mentioned i lived in canada from age 1-4... this spurred her to comment that canada was great, much better than here; because their government pays for all healthcare. I pointed out the varied problems with that, and finished with quoting what obama was saying about "making a decision about end of life care" and how it affects the elderly. Her response? "well those people are no lon...

Our President has started out as a lawyer, he should know better than that! Obama is setting out to have terrorists, enemy combatants, tried in a criminal case instead of military tribunal. Military Tribunal law in the USA meets or exceeds all international laws and protections, it has a variety of protections against abuse set out by congress over more than 200 years in this country. Every country has military courts, criminal courts, and civil courts that are separate entities, and for a good ...

I recently heard a liberal describe her faith in the government, it struck me (again), how similar liberalism is to religion. When people often try to convert me to religion they often say things like "but how can you go on not knowing that there is an after life", and "wouldn't you prefer to know that you are going to heaven"... My answer is, very much so, I would love nothing more. But I do not know such a thing, everything indicates to me that it isn't going to be the case, and clos...

I was listening to one of my favorite radio stations, full of good conservative talk show hosts. One of them was discussing healthcare with a liberal caller. She kept on changing the subject and making an appeal to emotion, that being "tell me where I can find healthcare now that I can afford? I could afford it when it was 172$/mo, now its 400$/mo and I can't afford it, I tried blu-cross, aetna, etc?" I think he really dropped the ball on answering her. He said he doesn't know her exact si...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bqUmuZnmf7A&NR=1 I noticed something about obama, he tends to make very accurate observations I agree with... and then draws very odd conclusions from those. For example, he made the argument that a problem healthcare faces is crushing corporate bureaucracy, so far so good... but then he concluded that the solution is government bureaucracy instead. In the link above he makes the argument that FedEx and UPS do great while the post office is...

We have seen government run healthcare in many nations before. We have seen medicare and medicaid in the USA, as well as the experiment in hawaii and other states. But we are told that this is different, that this government can do better. We are told that if only we had nationalized health insurance, people who currently do not receive basic care (such as prescription drugs) will stop dying, and if it saves lives, isn't it worth the cost? Well, lets look at the H1N1 vaccine. The governmen...

Rich countries are rich because of a successful culture. Nothing is stopping people from improving their own countries. Except many cultures do not show the respect to technology, industry, education and innovation needed to be successful. This is part of the problem which the west in general (and the USA specifically) currently face. The american PEOPLE no longer have respect towards capitalism, entrepreneurship, and industry. All three have become "evil" in their mind and ...

From the whitehouse, you can get a transcript of obama's address to the UN: http://www.whitehouse.gov/the_press_office/Remarks-by-the-President-to-the-United-Nations-General-Assembly/ Excerpt from address to UN (bolding and italicizing done by me - nothing removed or changed or reordered in this portion of the speech. Portions before and after dealt with other issues, such as climate change): I will also continue to seek a just and lasting peace between Israel, Palestine, and the Ar...

People who support obama-care are acting as if there are two and only two sides right now. 1. On the one hand there are those who wish to reform a broken system 2. On the other those who wish to oppose reform because they like the status quo, are stupid, evil, or just ignorant (ignorant means don't know any better; and is not an insult). They go on and on trying to prove how "bad" things are right now by giving personal experiences, or second (or greater) hand stories of people who had bad ...

I heard on the radio today that the CDC is working on making circumcision mandatory for all newborns in the USA. A quick search revealed plenty of articles confirming that claim. Have we fell so far as to rob people of their rights to their own body? Circumcision is tauted as "cleaner" and "less likely to pass disease". You know what is even cleaner and even less likely to pass disease? complete removal of the penis. Also why not rip out everyone's nails so they don't have to clean under t...

I will make you an offer. I shall give you 50$ to come to my house and clean my toilet, floors, and carpets. Or 100$ to sit at home and do nothing. Which one would you choose and why?

Look at this chart:     Ultraviolet and things to its right will give you cancer. Visible light and things to its left will not. That is because they simply do not penetrate your body, and the few photons that do, do not produce free radicals like UV light. When a UV photon hits a molecule it can cause free radicals, anti bonding bonds, emission of light at a lower wavelength, heat, etc... The reason is the significant amount of energy contained in it. As you go dow...
