Remember when the "evil" bush/republicans passed the patriot act? robbing Americans who are suspected of terrorism of their basic human rights? Remember when every liberal claimed the messiah (obama) will repeal it? Well no such luck, seems they would much rather extend it to cover suspected terrorists and suspected copyright violators.

http://arstechnica.com/media/news/2010/10/france-to-fight-piracy-prop-up-music-industry-with-new-subsidy.ars?comments=1#comments-bar The french government decided that piracy is a big problem, and they have the solution... they will teach young people to buy music... by subsidizing music purchases with taxpayer money. They declare it as a dedication to preserving their culture, alongside that push they also intend to subsidize books over ebooks, and purchase "free" subscriptions to newsp...

Remember kids, "help your parents shop for energy saving appliances"... Also, get them to buy solar panels... This is quite an interesting website, the most interesting bit is that: 1. It is being actively advertised in other websites (I got there via a link from one) 2. It targets kids. 3. It is a .gov website... meaning it is run by the USA government.

It is better that we lose to the Democrats than a Republican win with RINOs. RINO stands for Republican In Name Only, it refers to liberals who are chosen by the republican party as their candidates, that is done because republicans have been operating under the quite flawed policy that stated "Pick the most conservative candidate that can win". So they will pick a highly liberal candidate who is slightly less liberal than the opponent to run in liberal states, for the purpos...

Having seen the fall of biased opinion tabloid Newsweek (good riddance), left-wing extremist propaganda mills have united to form a new organization called, ironically, "Free Press"... They dub themselves a "media reform group" and demand that taxpayer fund their raving lunacy as more and more Americans are tuning off their vile propaganda in disgust and turning to real news sources. To convince us that it IS democratic to have taxpayer funded propaganda they cite the liberalism ind...

~311,591,917 Population (in 2011) ~237,744,633 Over 18 (in 2011) 61,218,820 (25.75%) voted Obama 58,200,593 (24.48%) voted Romney 118,325,220 (49.77%) voted neither Romney got fewer votes then McCain in 2008. Obama got fewer votes them himself in 2008. Since the population increased since 2011, the "neither" category should actually be somewhat larger, most likely breaking the 50% barrier. A sizeable group of both romney and obama voters must have also thought they are voting for the "l...

http://goliath.ecnext.com/coms2/gi_0199-5169990/County-to-pay-250-000.html This is a bit of old news (from 2006), but basically shows how government handles money. They were spending 250,000$ to advertise their "lack of funds". Of course what they were really angling for is a tax increase proposition which they hoped the "lack of funds" advertising will convince people to accept. They are not allowed to directly advertise the tax hike proposition (since some of the people oppose it), ...

Ask a typical liberal, and you would be told that anyone on unemployment is a hard working individual who just can't get a job (because corporations are evil). The liberal will contend that they just want to help those poor hardworking individuals who would otherwise could not even afford to eat. Ask a typical conservative, and you would be told they are lazy and don't want a job, and instead just want to be paid not to work. The conservative will tell you that if you cut them off, they will...

On tax day I went to the Tea Party protest in Grand Prairie... I met some friends there. I am a Hebrew (the race of jews), the guys I met were asian and latino... The speakers came from every possible color and creed you can imagine... There was a distinct lack of rich white old men or "rednecks" (which I never understood the animosity against). What shocked me the most though is when I told my youngest brother (who will be graduating high-school this month)... he learned in...

The inevitable collapse of socialized healthcare in Israel is now taking the country by a storm. If you check the link you can see patients lined up in beds sitting in the hallways. Every empty space has an extra bed crammed in it, to fill the overflowing hospitals. Waiting times are unbearable, even for true emergencies in the ER. Some hospitals are actually no longer receiving new patients, because their rooms, walkways, and every spare spot are full of patients and they don't want to sit them...

Censorship... it's not just for authoritarian states anymore. Such issues are increasingly part of the discourse in democracies, including Indonesia, the most populous Muslim-majority democracy. The government there is working up Internet censorship rules  to crack down on sites that offend "public decency," including pornography (child and otherwise). In a sign that President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has rather  peculiar  views on freedom of speech, he complained at...

How many of you own an amazon kindle, sony ereader, or the barns and nobles nook? Even to the wealthier of taxpayers the expense seems far too high. Not so to Rep. Edward Markey (D-MA) who wants to use your tax dollars to ensure every "poor" kid gets a government (codeword: taxpayer) paid for ebook reader; meanwhile taxpayers use the amazingly cheap and reliable "book" technology, which boasts infinite battery times, infinite contrast ratios, and faster page turning rates.

The great firewall of australia is a bipartisan move in australia to erect a firewall similar to china. The rallying call is "for the children", the claimed purpose is to stop child pornography. Any politician who opposes it is labeled a child pornography supporter. One of the chief private proponents of it is a high ranking manager in australian telcom, his boss received a personal letter from the minister of communication to shut him up. (instead they published the letter). Recent...

People have discovered that people are naive, trusting fools... you just need to frame something the right way to gain instant support. This is why the american "creationist" movement have renamed themselves "intelligence design" and later "scientific critique"... (see the book "of people and pandas", the book on which the movement is based and the 3 crazy leaders of the movement. the book has had several editions where the term creationism was simply replaced with intelligent desig...
