Your tax dollars at work

How many of you own an amazon kindle, sony ereader, or the barns and nobles nook?

Even to the wealthier of taxpayers the expense seems far too high. Not so to Rep. Edward Markey (D-MA) who wants to use your tax dollars to ensure every "poor" kid gets a government (codeword: taxpayer) paid for ebook reader; meanwhile taxpayers use the amazingly cheap and reliable "book" technology, which boasts infinite battery times, infinite contrast ratios, and faster page turning rates.

Leave it to the Gov't to not only ensure that the gadget creators make money off these gadgets are normal price but also make someone else pay for it while those who pay for it don't qualify. I always wonder 2 things:

1) Why does our Gov't always separate people when our culture believes we are all equals?

2) How come the Gov't never seeks to lower the price of something so that everyone can enjoy it?

What I am more curious is will those who get these Kindles also get free books? I don't mind children having access to books for educational purposes but to go towards an expensive alternative is not the way to solve every problem. Why is it always about money?

How about the Constitution first?

How about the Constitution first?

He would probably say "the constamawha?"

Notice how its not even a government provided "service" to everyone anymore. It is the "rich" pay for the "poor" when the "rich" themselves cannot afford it.

@Chuck, I bet they will actually make a special kindle that costs extra for the government

That would be the anti-gravity model - so you can read it upside down?

How about the Constitution first?

For that I think everyone in congress should have that mandatory tattooed on their chest backward so they can read it in the mirror each morning.

Hilerious response... but they hate smoking and drinking... if anything they would ban those entirely. Or when they are done socializing healthcare, deny care to drinkers and smoking, while forcing them to pay into the system, and forbidding them from buying private healthcare.
