Speaking up against our would be soviet overlords.

Ever wanted to know "what is the meaning of life?"?

Well, wonder no more.

Put simply, it is a grammatical aberration, a case of really bad syntax. Ask yourself "what is the meaning of sand" or "what is the meaning of tree" and you would realize how silly it is.

Whenever someone hears the question they automatically correct it into a valid question, such as:

For what purpose did god create life?

For what purpose was I born?

What purpose do living organisms serve?

Why was I born?

Why do living organisms exist?

and many many more. All of which have simple answers (which might differ between an atheist and a religious individual, as well as with your personal circumstances).

For example, "for what purpose was I born?" would be answered with "for no purpose at all" or "so that my parents will have someone to carry on their legacy" or "because my parents wanted to secure a US citizenship" or so on and so forth. But it is easily answered.

Put simply, it is a grammatical aberration,

Indeed it is.  But most understand it as "what is my purpose in living".  life is not quite like sand.  But the abundance of it seems to indicate while more complicated, it is hardly rare.

what is the meaning of life?
To die. While we all may do things differently in life, life always leads to the same conclusion, death.

Ah, an interesting one... so what is the actual question you are answering though?

What is the ultimate destiny of all living things?

What is the ultimate result of my own life?

etc...

To die. While we all may do things differently in life, life always leads to the same conclusion, death.

That is the terminus, but not the meaning or reason for existence.  if it was, then the most beneficial thing we could do is euthanize all babies (fulfilling their purpose as soon as possible).  Which of course would not be done for long before the species becomes extinct.

OK, I'll refine my answer:

To eat, sleep, have sex, make babies (for those who can) and then die (not necessarily in that order).

BTW, whats the deal with the site giving me errors when posting, having to do it thru the forums.

Not sure.  Gunslingerbara is working on it.  They just made some changes to the site and broke some things as well. He has a post in the forums on the changes and his efforts to fix the problems.

Thanks. I can post just fine from the forums but from the main page I can't.

from a Christian POV (which makes the most sense to me) the purpose of life is the same for every individual.  That is to find, obey and glorify God in whatever he has for us to do on this side of eternity.  When we do, everything makes sense falling into place.  We realize it's not about us at all.  It's really all about the one who created us.

When we love, honor and glorify God we treat others with respect and love because we were all made in the image of God.  When we love and respect others by putting them first and foremost even over ourselves, God blesses us and that's exactly what he had in mind in the first place.

God has many attributes.  One of them is love.  In order for him to use that attribute he created a people to love and be loved by him.

Of course, we have failed miserably as a created people and that's exactly why we're in the mess we're in.  It all comes down to the fact that we are NOT doing what we were created to do.

Goes back to glorifying God which is the chief end of man.

I'm not sure you would find any other POV, besides the Christian one, to make more sense KFC even if the majority did.

haha..you're right.  I take the Christian worldview definitely.  I'm usually not in the majority especially when it comes to these types of things.  That's ok tho...cuz one plus God is a majority...  LOL!

yes, and the reason life exists is because god created it, the reason you personally exists is because god put a soul in your mommy's tummy when you were conceived, the purpose of living organism in general is to be part of god's greater plan, etc etc.

Any question you could invent from the aberration of "what is the meaning of life" can be answered fairly easily, even with a Christian perspective. The reason 10 different people will give 10 different answers isn't that it is an overly complex question, the question of questions... but simply due to different people "correcting" it into different legitimate questions.
