Speaking up against our would be soviet overlords.

I can hardly believe it, it is as if a huge weight lifted off of my chest. I had already written off america, certain it is doomed to fall into a third world communist country due to the people wanting such "change".

I was listening to the radio and heard that martha coakley was defeated in Massachusetts. A republican in victory in that state is amazing enough, but it finally sealed the deal with the horrible healthcare nationalization bill. Democrats are jumping ship left and right on all the spending projects, most are as deluded as ever, but at least cannot continue to pass such disastrous laws against a unified republican... no a unified American front. The people have spoken and over 50% do not want communism.

We have come to the brink, and we have stepped away from the edge. The danger is not yet over; a single traitor amongst the republican party can ruin things... but this trend of electing responsible officials seems like it would continue, and soon we might regain control of congress. Healing has finally begun; I just hope that the near majority who is for communism sees the effects a conservative government can have in contrast with a spender liberal government in the next few years and grow out of their silly naive notions of communism.

Too bad.  Stepping over would have doomed the democrats for many years.  They just may retain control of congress after this.

I don't know. I feel we are in a situation where things will get worse (regardless what party is in control) before it gets better. We are where we are not only because of the Democrats, Republicans have a lot to answer for as well. But I am more concerned with the voting population than I am with those who are running for office. Most people tend to vote based on 2 factors, the letter next to the name, (R) or (D), or who promises to give the most. Very few actually pick based on who can do a better job, who is more reliable and who may actually keep his promises (an educated vote in other words).

Republican victories just because they have an (R) next to their name is not a victory to me. I will declare such a triumph when I see them actually doing something right besides getting elected. Only then will I see a Republican win as something good.

or who promises to give the most

true, and this terrifies me... even if over 50% of the population are not for welfare states aka communism, there is still a huge swath of the population that is... And we are paying them to outbreed us.

I found this amusing post by a liberal JU blogger (that shuts out opposing comments that are not in line with his own views, yeah 1st amendment!) and it really brought a smile to my face:

"Interesting take on why Coakley lost.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/01/20/obama-backers-more-commit_n_429673.html

The bottom line is that Demorcats are pissed that Obama and proposed healthcare reform and proposed financial reform is too far to the right, *not* too far to the left. In Obama's rush to the center to appease the right (a line that I'm sure our conservative friends will find amusing) he has not only failed to garner any support whatsoever from the right but has also lost significant support from the left.

"The poll also upends the conventional understanding of health care's role in the election. A plurality of people who switched -- 48 -- or didn't vote -- 43 -- said that they opposed the Senate health care bill. But the poll dug deeper and asked people why they opposed it. Among those Brown voters, 23 percent thought it went "too far" -- but 36 percent thought it didn't go far enough and 41 percent said they weren't sure why they opposed it.

Among voters who stayed home and opposed health care, a full 53 percent said they opposed the Senate bill because it didn't go far enough; 39 percent weren't sure and only eight percent thought it went too far." end quote

I guess these folks that believe the public option for health care was so important they went out of their way to vote for the Republican candidate in droves. I really hope that the left continues this train of though. They like that term "deniers" so much, I guess they thought they'd try it on for size.

On the one hand, we see some democrats getting smart.  On the other we see the Media (and the left blogdom) staying stupid.  With any luck, the latter 2 will influce the former 1, and democrats will be gone in november!

Let them think whatever they want.  being stupid is not a crime.

The bitterest of ironies, isn't it?
